Central Coast Waterproofing Renovates Los Angeles Roof Deck With Desert Crete Traffic Coating

March 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Central Coast Waterproofing recently completed the waterproofing and decorative stamped concrete faux tile finish for a condominium complex in Los Angeles CA.

The 3500 square foot roof deck over 28 condominium homes in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles had leaked soon after it was occupied. Three years later, the insurance company for the builder finally agreed to pay for repairs.

Prime general contractor Cal-Building and Maintenance of Hawthorne selected Central Coast Waterproofing as their preferred sub-contractor to perform the critical waterproofing details need to install the ICC-ES Class A/One Hour fire resistive traffic coating assembly.  

Over an eight week schedule, the staff of Central Coast Waterproofing installed flashings to the deck to walls, sloped the deck to the drains and installed Desert Crete decking to waterproof the entire area.

Shortly after the waterproofing was installed, the worst rains in Los Angeles in over seventy years occurred. The Desert Crete decking performed as expected, not one leak was reported after 16 inches of rain in December/January.

The Desert Crete waterproofing was completed with a finished traffic surface, stamped and stained to look like tile.

Desert Crete is an ICC-ES (ESR 1661) evaluated coating that has been determined to meet or exceed the 1997 Uniform Building Code and the 2006 International and Residential Building Codes. It is a Class A (ASTM E-108) and One Hour (ASTM E-119) fire resistant traffic coating, suitable for roof decks, balconies, stairs and hallways where fire codes must be met. It is manufactured  by Hill Brothers Chemical Company of Orange CA.
