Kenny Dalglish will look to continue his unbeaten run as Liverpool manager and book his side a place in the quarter finals as they face Sparta Prague on Thursday evening. The game follows from the goalless first leg last week in what was a rather dull, uneventful game.

That would have suited Liverpool though, the clean sheet was their 4th in their last 5 games and they will fancy their chances of progressing to the next round at Anfield. The bookies have priced Liverpool at a best priced 2/5 and that seems fair enough. Suarez and Carroll are still unavailable, whilst Gerrard will have to wait a little longer before he returns the team. That means N’Gog is likely to start up top once again. He did well in the earlier stages of this competition scoring 5 and he will be called on to lead the line against Prague. He is a best priced 9/2 for first scorer or 11/10 anytime. I’m not convinced by his ability so I think that may be a little short for the Frenchman. He will receive support from the trio of Rodriguez, Meireles and Kuyt. Meireles is in good form at the moment with 5 goals in his last 7 games and can be backed as anytime scorer at 2/1 or first scorer at 6/1.

Sparta found it difficult to break down the Merseysiders in Prague and it’s difficult to see them scoring at Anfield. Daglish has got his side well organised and the 10/11 available on Liverpool to win to nil looks like good value. With the hosts lacking attacking prowess, I think a low scoring home win is the most likely outcome and it may pay to dutch a couple of correct scores.

Recommended Bet:

Liverpool 2-0 Prague:: 6/1

Liverpool 3-0 Prague:: 8/1
