Feb. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- Boston, Massachusetts, February 22, 2011 - When business is good, new challenges arise.  This is what happened recently to a well known food distributor in the New York Metro Area.  The company prides itself not only on providing quality products, but also on the highest level of customer satisfaction through close relationships not only with their long-term but also their newest customers.  And this dedication has led to steady and significant growth over the past few years; and with growth comes new challenges.

One challenge that came up recently was the need for additional refrigeration capacity.  The company’s modern distribution center is equipped with several high capacity commercial refrigerators and freezers, all equipped with temperature monitoring and alarm systems.  Because of their customer focused philosophy and the resulting growth, the company found itself outgrowing its refrigeration capacity and needing to bring in additional units.  The quickest way to handle this was to bring in some mobile refrigeration units.  And while these units serve their purpose well, the lack of integrated temperature monitoring and alarm systems raised questions in their quality assurance and IT departments.

What they found was cost-effective, easy to install and use answer in Temperature@lert’s WiFi Edition.  Each portable refrigeration unit was outfitted with a dedicated WiFi temperature sensing and alerting system.  The WiFi units are connected to the distribution center’s wireless network inside their warehouse.  Because there was no need to run sensors and cables from the central control system to the portable units, temperature monitoring was able to be turned on almost instantly.

IT staff at the company related their experience.  “Because we’re a 24/7 operation someone is always around to check on problems, especially on weekdays.  Weekend crews have their hands full taking care of last minute orders, changes, and maintenance.  They rely on the alarm systems we have to let them know we have a problem.  For our portable units we couldn’t count on them being nearby when an alarm went off.  Temperature@lert’s WiFi Edition temperature sensor filled the gap.  When the portable units lose power due to a power company outage, lightening storms or a breaker inadvertently tripping the WiFi unit senses a temperature rise with plenty of advanced warning to head off problems.  We set the alert level a few degrees above the refrigerator set point and if there’s a problem an email alert is sent and someone is dispatched to check it out.  The peace of mind the WiFi unit gives us is the most valuable feature.”

Temperature@lert has heard many similar stories from food distributors, grocers, wine distributors and even wine cellar owners who have expanded their operations and need a cost-effective temperature monitoring solution,” noted Harry Schechter, Temperature@lert Founder and CEO.  “And with our newly released WiFi Edition, the TM-WiFi220, customers can now monitor two refrigerators or freezers with one base unit.  Acceptance of this device by our customers has been beyond expectation.  It is truly meeting a need for those wanting to monitor their valuable perishable products with a low-cost, easy to install and use, device.”
