Kargil coldest Place in J&KLeh in Ladakh recorded the minimum temperature at minus 7 degrees as compared to yesterday’s minus 3.8 degrees.

The temperature was the same as recorded the previous night, the spokesman said. He said Leh in Ladakh recorded the minimum temperature at minus 7 degrees as compared to yesterday’s minus 3.8 degrees. However, the night temperature showed appreciable improvement in the plains, including Srinagar where the mercury settled at 1.9 degrees. Srinagar recorded a low of minus 0.6 degree the previous night. The high altitude areas experienced the season’s heaviest snowfall, while the plains were lashed by incessant rains coupled with intermittent snowfall under the influence of the Western Disturbance. The highway town of Qazigund, gateway to Kashmir, recorded a low of 1.4 degrees followed by Kokernag (0.8 degree) and Kupwara (0.5 degree), the spokesman said. The famous hill resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir, which serves as a base camp for annual Amarnath yatra, recorded a low of minus 4.4 degrees as against yesterday’s minus 5.4 degrees, he said. http://www.jammu- Official sources said a light snowfall occurred in the high altitude areas of the Valley last night after a daylong break.
