Dream Come True for Emerald Square Resident

Feb. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Lloyd and Minnie Byrd have always been very discriminating with their money. They lived modestly, saved and provided a great home for their family. Lloyd says they never splurged on things for themselves; never went to any big college or professional sporting events. But he thought that sounded like a lot of fun. In fact, sometimes he dreamed of doing something like that.

The staff saw this as a great opportunity to celebrate Lloyd as part of Emerald Square’s ‘Ageless Dreams’ program. Tuesday night, Lloyd got the dream game experience thanks to the OKC Thunder and his Emerald Square family. Lloyd was treated to an evening in the suites at OKC Arena as Thunder hosted the Sacremento Kings. Sporting their new Thunder gear, Lloyd and seven friends and staff members headed out to the game for a little ‘guys night out’. Lloyd says, “It was more than I expected. There’s so much more than what you see on TV. Rumble and the Thunder Girls came up and met us. It was really great!”

Emerald Square Staff Members are always listening for things their residents wish they could have done. “We tuck those bits of information away and seek out ways to fulfill those dreams for our residents,” said Community Relations Director, Stacy Gilchrist. Emerald Square tries to fulfill the wish of one resident each month. The best part is that other residents also gain experiences that enrich their lives.
