Follow on Google News | Colorado Academy Mock Trial Teams Sweep Denver CompetitionAll three of Colorado Academy’s Mock Trial teams are award winners from the Denver Regional Mock Trial Tournament February 11 and 12 at the Denver County Courthouse, and for the second consecutive year, CA’s teams swept the competition.
By: Renee Rockford CA’s Black team won the prestigious Professionalism Award. This is given to the one team whose courtroom comportment models the highest of professional standards for both witnesses and attorneys. It was the first time since the program’s inception that CA students received such recognition. CA’s teams also garnered the lion’s share of the individual awards at the competition. Caitlin Barron, Kathryn Jacaruso, Sarah Rockford, and Paige Roth were among the five recipients of the “Outstanding Attorney Award.” Maddy McKinnon, Griff O’Brien, and Sarah Sibley also won an award for their roles as witnesses. The competition was a trial of the mock cyber-stalking case of Jamie Cullen, plaintiff v. Kris Stuart, defendant in regional competition. While this is the 26th year for Colorado’s Mock Trial competitions, it is only CA’s third year to participate. In their short time of competition, CA’s teams have been aggressive competitors, winning regionals and advancing to state both all three years. CA Coaches are Kirk Ingebretsen, Mike Gallagher, Kimberly Creedon, Bill Carey, and Mark Grueskin. The CA faculty sponsor of the program is Luis Terrazas. Competing students include Caitlin Barron, Cody Behan, Jono Bentley, Erin Bilir, Clare Burchenal, Kate Chenney, Doug Cohen, Caroline Cramer, Nick Fahrenkrog, Katie Fisher, Will Gallagher, Emma Grueskin, Eric Hahn, Claire Ingebretsen, Ingrid Ingebretsen, Kathryn Jacaruso, Paige Klump, Barry Linden, Bailey Luke, Madeline McKinnan, Marina Moskowitz, Andrew Myers, Zenzi Price, Sarah Sibley, Griff O’Brien, Molly O’Neil, America Perez, Sarah Rockford, Paige Roth, Sam Suechting, Zoe Seward, Lauren Singer, Tate Swanson, Robert Wright.
