Feb. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Motorola has been making a lot of high-end devices that continuously challenge the best in the segment and invariably, you will find that Motorola is most often at the top of the tree when it comes to making revolutionary products. Even though Apple overtook it in the tablet PC segment, Motorola has caught up with the Apple iPad by launching the new Motorola XOOM. This is the much awaited tablet PC from Motorola and it sets a new benchmark in the tablet PC segment. The domination of the Apple iPad has so far not been challenged by any company, but the launch of the Motorola XOOM will certainly spice up things.

The Motorola XOOM is certainly not an ordinary tablet PC. It is a tablet PC that is capable of doing things better than the Apple iPad mainly because the presence of the 10.1 inch touch screen display that is capable of a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. The touch screen display of the Motorola XOOM is slightly bigger than the Apple iPad and it comes at a time when many manufacturers are moving away from the large size touchscreen for the tablet PC. The use of this screen size has meant that Motorola has been capable of importing more features into the tablet PC without hampering the main functionality of it.

The Motorola XOOM will be one of the first tablet PCs to be coming with the Android 3.0 operating system that has been tuned in order to make it more tablet PC oriented. It is certainly better than the Android 2.3 operating system that is seen in the mobile phones of late and it is much better than the Apple operating system. The Motorola XOOM is also one of the most powerful tablet PCs of all time. It manages to put the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Apple iPad in the distant memory when it comes to speed. This is due to the presence of the 1 GB of RAM and 1 GHz dual core processor. The dual core processor rating is almost double that of the Apple iPad and it is because of this the Motorola XOOM is capable of playing almost anything that you can throw at it.

It could also be due to the Android operating system that provides a number of codecs for various formats. The Motorola XOOM has not omitted the most important feature in a tablet PC, camera. It has a five megapixel camera that will be at the rear, which will be mostly used for photography more than anything else. There is a secondary camera located just above the touch screen display and it can be used for the video calling and conferencing. Motorola has equipped this tablet PC with 32 GB memory internally, but there is no word on the external memory card support provided by this tablet PC. It is expected to be launched in Q1, although no network provider has confirmed its launch date.
