Jan. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- One year old Joel Lonyiki was killed in what was referred to as an operation by a quack doctor who calls himself Dr. Yasin Matovu.

The parents of the deceased boy said they were told to pay the fake doctor sh 160,000 for the operation. After the 'operation', the doctor told Erukana Kuduku, father of the boy, to go and buy water for the boy. Upon his return, he did not find the doctor and the boy was still. Thinking that he had just dosed the boy to sleep, the father waited for him to awake. Minutes passed into hours and family members came to visit the boy. It was them who informed the father that his son was dead. "On return, i found the boy still lying on the table and the doctor was no where to be seen. I thought he had left the boy to rest but as time went on, some relatives of mine checked on my son and told me he was dead," Kaduku said in his statement.

According to http://www.ugandapicks.com , The fake doctor has been operating in a private clinic in Kitimbwa village in Kayunga district and he is said to have a second clinic in Bombo. The victimized family is a resident of Kyamugonogo Village in Kayonza sub-county.

Dr. Edris Musisi, the distict director of health services said there was no record of a Dr. Yasin Matovu. Dr. Ahmed Matovu, the hospital medical superintendent agreed with this fact. The Kayunga district police is now looking for a medical doctor who goes by the name of Dr. Yasin Matovu.

John Dhabangi the district criminal investigations chief said the hunt for Matovu is on and when arrested, he will be charged with murder of the one year old boy. The director of health services Edris condemned the incident but blamed the parents for trusting their child in the hands of anyone who claims to be a medical doctor. The boy's body was handed over to the family for burial.

Dr. Ahmed Matovu who is said to be an administrator and who does not perform operations said he had received several phone calls from people asking questions thinking he was the one who had committed the crime which he says he did not. He went on and remembered a patient who came to the hospital claiming to have been operated on from Kitimbwa. "There was a patient who came to the hospital last year, saying he had been operated upon from Kitimbwa by one Dr. Matovu. But the operation had been badly done. I am the only Dr. Matovu in Kayunga. How can you operate on a hernia patient from a clinic? That must be a quack," he said
