Lynn MacMichael Teaches Networking Success with the Elevator Speech

Networking expert Lynn MacMichael teaches business owners and salespeople to have networking success by creating an effective and unique elevator speech.

Jan. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Halifax networking expert and president of Bconnected, Lynn MacMichael, offers tips and techniques for networking success.  Her recent video outlines her top ten networking tips, and she is currently distributing her video throughout Canada at tradeshows and world-wide via the Internet.

One networking tool Lynn identifies is what has become known as the “elevator speech.”  Although it sounds like something one might give while riding on an elevator between floors, it is really a short description of who a business person is, what they do, and what they have to offer that is different from their competitors.

According to Lynn MacMichael, “in order to achieve networking success, it’s absolutely imperative that you memorize your elevator speech and are comfortable communicating it over and over for members of your target audience.  Your elevator speech needs to explain what you do in a way that makes what you do different from what your competitors offer.”

Lynn recommends that business owners and salespeople who are interested in creating an effective elevator speech first make sure they have their niche markets very specifically identified.  Then, she recommends answering three questions as they apply to each market: 1) What do you do? 2) Why does it matter? 3) Who cares?

“Remember,” Lynn continues, “that your answers must set you apart from all of your competitors by demonstrating that you offer your services in a unique way.  Once you have the questions answered, you put them together to create your elevator speech and you can successfully answer the standard ‘what do you do’ question in a way that brands YOU as unique and valuable.”
