Dec. 31, 2010 - PRLog -- Leading Asian Sauce specialist San-J International recently completed their shoot for O2 Media’s hit morning TV show “The Balancing Act.”  The segment, which features Gluten Free Cooking Instructor Jennifer Cafferty, will air as part of the show’s “My Cuisine” series on January 17th at 7:00 am (ET/PT) on Lifetime Television.  Cafferty introduces San-J’s new Organic Tamari Gluten-Free Soy Sauce and showcases easy Asian-inspired gluten-free meals that viewers can make at home.

Millions of people across the globe suffer from gluten sensitivity, which prevents them from properly digesting this common protein found in wheat, barley, and rye.  Traditional soy sauce contains about 50% wheat, so gluten sensitive individuals can’t eat Asian cuisine since most indigenous sauces contain soy sauce or other wheat-based ingredients.  San-J’s Gluten-Free Soy Sauce is a variation of “Tamari” – a richer, smoother concoction that traditionally contains very little wheat.  By removing all traces of the grain from their recipe and brewing facility, San-J has created a product that is 100% gluten-free.

“We are so happy that our Premium Tamari Soy Sauce products have given gluten-free consumers more exciting choices for their diet,” says Misako Binford, Marketing Manager for San-J.  “Being a part of a great educational program like the Balancing Act is a very exciting opportunity for us to reach out to more women who are seeking a healthier diet and lifestyle.”

Parent company San-Jirushi began brewing soy sauce over 200 years ago in Japan, and continues its ancient tradition eight generations later here in America with San-J International.  Founded by the Sato family in Mie, Japan in 1804, the company began selling Tamari in the United States in 1978 and eventually built a North American brewing plant in Richmond Virginia.  Today, the Sato family still manages both companies’ operations.

“Having Gluten Free Cooking Instructor Jennifer Cafferty on the show has brought yet another great solution to women, one that will have a real impact, and help them balance their lives,” says Doug Campbell, Founder and Executive VP of Programming for The Balancing Act.  “This is the essence of solutions-based programming, and we are proud that we could bring this information to our viewers.”
