This is the comparison of Android vs IPhone. Although there is no clear win-win for either of the two, both of them have areas where they are superior over the other.

Dec. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- Here goes a comparison of Android vs IPhone and many people also requested the comparison of Android vs iPhone vs BlackBerry vs Windows Mobile 7.And we'll do in future.

First, let's see the features of Android. It has an open platform http://source.android.com
The phone system with very good and compiled custom firmwares - good for hackers and other frameworks, extended on each new firmware and supports multitasking. The nice IDE - Eclipse, NetBeans and development SDK is free. The phone enable the users debug easily, can send logs to developers. Its programming language is Java, which is a high level language that appeared in 1995, but bridges from other languages exist (C# .net - Mono, etc). Android supports Java 1.5 and translates the byte code to its own custom Dalvik byte code optimized for mobile devices.

When said its  hardcore programmers, Android offers the possibility of programming in C using the native dev kit NDK, can run script languages like LUA, Perl, Python, etc. You can install third party applications from scared, random sites - not locked to a specific market applications can hook and override everything - email interface, SMS sending, custom keyboards, etc supports widgets.
The users also can publish applications on the Android market instantly - initial one time registration fee is 25E, has access to the scared and can use it as a USB disk (http://www.pickegg.com/wholesale/usb-disk/). There is no Adobe Flash support for Android yet, but it will be probably available in Q2 of this year.

The iphone, as we all have known, with closed platform.  There is no multitasking except for some Apple applications. However, the multitasking is probably going to be introduced in the next vertion of the iPhone, the iPhone 4 and the development kit may cost ~90E. The iphone's programming language is Objective C, which appeared in 1986 - but bridges exist from Java, C#, etc. The next version of iPhone is supposed to only allow Objective C code, this means the bridges are out and you must program in Objective C, if you want to create an iPhone application. The applications of iphone are not allowed to duplicate the iPhone functionality, for example, there is no custom email interface, and so on.

It does not support widgets - unless the phone is jail broken. The users do not have access to the scared - users can only do synchronization via internet or LAN. There are third parties applications can only be installed from the Apple store. For testing the applications, developers can use Ad Hoc publishing. The publishing on the store is a very lengthy and tiresome process. Apple has many and bizarre rules. Many applications were rejected for strange reasons. And there is no Adobe Flash support.

On the price comparison, Android phones seem to be cheaper than the iPhone. Also the hardware is in some cases double than what the iPhone has. No wonder, there is a saying as, Android will be the biggest competitor of iphone in future.
