Dec. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Traditions of America at Liberty Hills, an active lifestyle community just 5 minutes from Cranberry Township, swept the 50+ division of the 2010 Housing Excellence Awards program put on by the Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh on Friday night.  The two single family and two attached home designs chosen as the finest new homes in the area for Baby Boomers and beyond reflect national trends in 50+ housing.

WINNING HOMES REFLECT NATIONAL TRENDS IN BOOMER UN-RETIREMENT, PROMOTE ACTIVE LIFESTYLES FOR NORTH HILLS’ BOOMERS, SENIORS

“The team at Traditions of America at Liberty Hills is honored to have been recognized with multiple awards,” said David Biddison, Director of Operations.  “We take great pride in designing homes especially suited to the active lifestyle of today’s 50+ customers.”

Biddison noted that the awards reflect a national trend in so-called “active adult housing.” Even before the current economic challenges, Baby Boomers were redefining retirement.  At Liberty Hills, a community popular with North Hills’ Boomers and seniors, more than half of the residents work either part-time, full-time or are starting their own businesses.

“In response, Traditions of America introduced home designs with more flexible layouts and open floor plans,” said Biddison.  “We’ve made it achievable for North Hills 50+ers to build their dream homes for ‘un-retirement.’”

For example, every home is designed for easy, single-level living (a retirement community standard), and there also is space on the first or second floor for an office or hobby.  The 8,500 square foot clubhouse at Liberty Hills also provides a business center with computers, printer, scanner and fax – and wireless Internet throughout the building and by the pool.

Traditions of America at Liberty Hills won a total of four awards:
•   Best 50+ Housing Single Family Detached Home – Under $250,000 (price categories did not include land costs) – Revere
•   Best 50+ Housing Single Family Detached Home – Over $250,000 – Hamilton
•   Best 50+ Housing Attached Home – Under $250,000 – Washington
•   Best 50+ Housing Attached Home – Over $250,000 – Lincoln

For a tour of six fully decorated model homes, including the winning entries, come to the Welcome Center located at 100 Liberty Circle in Freedom, PA (5 minutes from Cranberry Township).  The information center is open daily, 10am – 5pm.
