Control computer by voice on Linux

Dec. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Firstly, you must download the VEDICS software. After downloading, you have to extract, run files Install.sh (Run in Terminal mode) and follow the instructions for installation.

To run program, you click Applications> Universal Access> VEDICS (Note: the program will run hidden so you will not see any windows).

In order to make your computer run, you have to follow the instructions below:
The window controls:  
1. Maximize Window: Zoom in Window.
2. Minimize Window: Zoom out windows.
3. Close Windows
4. Show Desktop: minimize all windows (like the Show Desktop function of Windows)

The command to run the application:
1. Run Browser: Open the default browser.
2. Run Terminal: Open terminal window.
3. Run Mail: Open the Mail management program.

Besides, there are also many other commands to help you control your computer better (get more details in Complete command Set of Vedics.pdf).

Unlimited to the predefined command, you can completely control everything by Speech to Run. For example, you want to open the Applications menu; you just say Applications. Similarly, say Internet if you want to move to the Internet menu.

In general, this is good support software to control the computer by voice. However, the program has not still supported user in setting command for a certain program themselves. Anyway, this is good software to use for your computer.
