Trojan.Bootlock Destructive Trojan

Another potentially damaging PC trojan has been identified. Named "Trojan.Bootlock", it sends you a warning that your files have been encrypted.

Dec. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Trojan.Bootlock is a destructive trojan that targets and infects the master boot record (MBR) of the compromised computer. What is a Master Boot Record? It is a small executable program of a computer that resides on the first sector of the hard disk. If the Master Boot Record (MBR) is corrupted, the computer will not boot up properly and you will not be able to login to your Windows Operating System.

Once you’re infected with Trojan.Bootlock, it will display the following message:

Your PC is blocked.
All the hard drives were encrypted.
Browse www.********* to get an access to your system and files.
Any attempt to restore the drives using other way will lead to inevitable data loss!!!
