Wing Healing Therapies Foundation The Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation is a grass roots organization, started in 2009. The "Ragin' Cajun" is the Foundation’s largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds allow the Foundation to provide financial aid to cancer patients for complementary healing therapies, such as acupuncture or therapeutic massage, which are not covered by insurance. These therapies -- which complement traditional cancer treatment by alleviating side effects such as fatigue, pain, and nausea -- can make a big difference in the quality of life and recovery of cancer patients. The Foundation grew out of local resident Sandra Wing's own experiences battling cancer and has helped over 35 cancer patients in Pleasanton, Livermore, San Ramon, Dublin and Danville. To be eligible for a grant, which can range up to $1,000, the applicant must be diagnosed with cancer; be under the care of a physician; be receiving chemotherapy or radiation treatment; reside in Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon, or Danville; and may not have medical insurance which covers the complementary service(s) they desire.
