Peptides International Expands Executive Team, Broadens Technical Expertise

Nov. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Peptides International Inc. announced today the addition of Dr. Michael Pennington to the company’s executive team, effective December 1st.   Dr. Pennington will assume the role of Chief Technical Officer with responsibility for research, production, and quality control.  
In making the announcement Ms. Jackie Spatola, Chair of the Board, and Dr. Bryce Johnson, President and CEO, cited the company’s increased focus on partnering with biotech and pharmaceutical companies seeking to develop new and more complex peptides and peptidomimetics for therapeutic applications.  Dr. Johnson added:  “We are extremely excited to add Dr. Pennington’s breadth of experience in peptide design and scale-up to our technical expertise”.  
Dr. Pennington has spent over 20 years in research and development management with the Bachem Group and was most recently President and C.O.O, of the company’s King of Prussia (Pennsylvania) facility, Bachem Bioscience Inc.  He is the author of nearly 100 technical publications, has served on the editorial boards of several industry journals, and is on the Scientific Advisory Boards of a number of drug development companies.  He is also a co-principal investigator on several NIH grants and serves as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at Villanova University.
Dr. Pennington will also play a strong role in strategy development, working closely with Dr. Johnson, Ms. Spatola, and Dr. Channa Basava.  Dr. Basava, who has been leading the company’s technical and commercial organizations for the past year, will expand his efforts in the areas of specialty products and technologies as well as focusing on critical business development opportunities and global management of sales, marketing and distribution activities.
