Community Outreach that Everyone Can Participate In
In this day and age, with all the technological resources available to us like email, Facebook, Twitter, other social media networks, and iPhone Apps, reaching out to our local communities (and even outside of them) to fundraise takes very little effort. Asking friends, family, co-workers, bosses, even strangers to donate for a cause is simply a few clicks away.

In the case of cancer, so many of us have experienced the effects of it first or second hand, which is why it is so important that we support the ongoing development of care for existing patients, educate the general public for prevention, research to find cures, and create awareness for other health options that will reduce the number of people affected by it in these present times.

About Relay For Life
Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone within a community the opportunity to participate in the efforts to put an end to cancer. Teams of people fund-raise and camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each Relay For Life team is asked to have a team member on the track at all times during the event. Relays are scheduled to last 24 hours, representing the reality that cancer never sleeps.

2011 Relay For Life of Beverly Hills
The 2011 Relay For Life of Beverly Hills teams will be setting up camp at El Rodeo School. The Relay will include signature moments such as the Opening Ceremony, Survivors Lap, Fight Back Ceremony, Luminaria Ceremony, and the Closing Ceremony. You can either donate to an existing team or participant, or register your own team and get involved on the day of the event. The Volunteer Comittee holds frequent meetings to generate additional fundraising activities, as well as Team Captain meetings so that all teams are given the education they need to pass onto team members for increased involvement and fundraising possibilities.

Upcoming Fundraisers
While the Relay For Life event itself is a very powerful one, throughout the months leading up to it there are many other events taking place, which are intended to reach out to other communities and individuals who may not be able to attend the Relay itself, but who wish to participate and donate beforehand.  

The next such event taking place this Sunday 21st of November is the Legendary Bingo Special Fundraiser at Hamburger Mary's on 8288 Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood, from 7 – 9pm.

There is a $20.00 suggested donation at the door, which includes 10 bingo game cards.
