Nov. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Private Grants Alert, a continually updated grant database and online news service focused exclusively on funding for community programs, is offering a special 90-minute audio conference on keys to successfully preparing for the 2011 private grant season.

The audioconference  is Thursday, November 18 from 2:00-3:30 Eastern Time and features two expert speakers who write regularly about private funding, and lots of practical advice and insights.  It's a cost-effective way for staff to learn the latest in foundation funding--only one registration enables an entire grants office to listen around one speaker phone.  The audio sponsors will also offer ample Q&A time and will provide handouts as well.

The audio is geared towards newer or intermediate staff seeking funding for
community programs ranging from education and social services to housing and
healthcare.

The audio will offer grantseekers invaluable guidance on improving one's chances for success, such as:
* learning what many funders are looking for in 2011 applications
* which needs funders will likely focus on most
* how best to sift through all those funders to find ones meeting your needs
* how to follow the funding streams
* understanding the importance of federal/private partnerships
* how to make use of  your contacts and partners and find new ones.

It will also cover:
-- the current status of private funding
-- what types of sources and grants are available
-- where to search and how to handle local, regional & national funding
-- importance of partnerships, and how to reach out to associations and
legislators
-- why guidance is the crucial first step
-- time-saving measures and potential pitfalls that can make or break an application

And there will be loads of advice from grant consultants and funders themselves on how to:

* use opportunities wisely
* make the most of contacts, partnerships, and collaboration
* effectively gather information and write a better application.
* create a practical schedule and list of duties
* map out the process most efficiently
* craft winning letters of intent and
* handle funders who say "no unsolicted proposals."

The audioconferences presenters are Ray Sweeney, veteran grants consultant and senior grants researcher for FEDERAL & FOUNDATION ASSISTANCE MONITOR and Frank Klimko, senior grants researcher for PRIVATE GRANTS ALERT. They will offer ample time for questions from listeners as well.

Both publications are national grant databases and continually updated funding alert services published by CD Publications, a publisher since 1961.
