Nov. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- “Everyone’s perspective on style and taste is very different” stated Elizabeth Sartorio. To narrow down what you consider beautiful, there are steps that you can take to help you on your journey. When it comes to planning and designing an interior, it's very important that you take the necessary steps to ensure the best results for you.

All spaces have endless options and choices for color, theme and décor, so be patient and have fun with the process. When it comes to Interior Design, those who fail to plan, plan to fail. Here's what you have to do in order to avoid problems early on. Start with the drawing of a rough floor plan of the space you are designing.  You don’t have to be an artist to make this drawing, however, the plan must be drawn to scale. Scaled graph paper is essential and can be purchased at most supply stores.  Create some “cut-outs” particular to the room you are designing, and make sure to make them to scale.  Professionally created cut-outs can also be purchased online. Move cut-outs of furniture and fixtures around the room until they are arranged in a manner that you like and believe will work well without overcrowding. Pay particular attention to obstructions such as windows, doors, heating /cooling vents and floor outlets. You may have to sacrifice some items or change some of the dimensions in order to achieve success. It can be helpful to look at magazines for inspiration with color and positioning of furniture in creating your space and the look you want. It’s nice to group your seating together to create a cozy atmosphere.  Then you should decide on a color scheme for paint.  It’s a good idea to begin with an area rug in living rooms.  It’s efficient and easier to start from that pallet and then draw upon that pallet for coordinating and complementary colors and accessories.

Remember that you can always purchase samples for most paint before you buy. This is much more efficient and cost effective than buying the wrong paint that you may have selected from a color brochure or paint chip.  The paints you sample will need to be applied onto differently oriented walls and assessed at different times of the day for lighting effects. It is only then that you should commit to a final color.  This step is crucial in determining what color you love and remember that “wall furnishings”, which is the latest name for wall paper,  is back in style!
