| Local Non-profit To Bring Santa To Area Children In NeedChosen Generations to Host 6th Annual Breakfast with Santa, Providing Meals and Toys for Hundreds of Families in Need
Chosen Generations Community Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving the community for over 20 years. The Sixth Annual Breakfast with Santa is for at-risk youth in Michigan. This is an event which gives nearly a thousand at-risk children gifts for Christmas, a good meal, and an amazing day of fun. As a bonus, this year the center will be are giving families food baskets that includes all the trimmings for a fabulous holiday dinner—including a turkey. With Michigan's economy so badly hit by the recession, many children will go without this holiday season. This event aims to curb that. The Breakfast with Santa is Chosen Generations biggest annual community event involving businesses and volunteers nationwide, and families statewide. Their goals are to bring awareness to the hunger issues in our state, feed families, and bring joy to over a thousand Michigan children. Angela Thornton, Project Coordinator of the 6th Annual Breakfast with Santa, said, “I started the Breakfast with Santa six years ago as a high school student at Detroit’s Renaissance High School to help families in need. I am so proud of how this event has grown, and I am so grateful that Meijer has partnered with our organization to provide turkeys for families and toys for children. So many kids throughout the community depend on us to deliver a great event every year.
