By: Ian Rees, City and County of Swansea Active Swansea has a list of handy tips to keep you active and help you beat the winter blues! Do less exercise, but make it count. We’re all strapped for time in the weeks leading up to Christmas, and with shopping, parties and kids concerts competing for your time, spending hours in the gym isn’t an option. Try interval training to increase the intensity of your workout without burning yourself out and eating into your time. It involves alternating short bursts of intense aerobic activity with recovery through a less intense form of the same exercise. For more advice speak to one of our Active Swansea fitness team. Variety is the spice of life Stay motivated. Change your routine by cross training. Trying out different activities adds variety to your workout and distributes the burden of training amongst various parts of the body. An easy way to start cross training is to swap between activities. Try one of our fitness classes one day, and the cardio machines in our Active Swansea gyms the next. Join our challenge Tone up to party in our Christmas challenge. Just attend 15 times and be in with a chance of bagging some great prizes.
