Flexo Press Label Registration, Re-registration, and Infeed

Oct. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- When printing labels on a flexographic press registration of the web is a major issue. Gaining registration within one length of the press with a servo system saves on material waste. Having a servo system and upgraded infeed system that accurately tracks the press will reduce the number times a pressman needs to stop the press as well. The cost of a new high end servo press can be prohibitive. However, an easily attached servo upgrade like the Servo 3000 from Rotary Technologies comes at a fraction of the price of a new servo press and accomplishes the goal of reduced material waste in printing labels on an older flexo press.

The re-registration system of the Servo 3000 allows the press to run all label materials for a second or even third pass. This allows a four color press to print eight or even twelve colors. The ability of a servo upgrade like the Servo 3000 to re-register the web for multiple passes makes the job of printing extended content labels much easier for the pressman. It also allows the press to fix design errors such as when the client sends modified art work or perhaps a different bar code. With the exceptional web tension control of the Servo 3000 design errors on labels can be fixed and the original job not thrown out.

By eliminating the infeed gear train the current infeed and pacing cylinder the Servo 3000 gives the flexo press better tracking and eliminates backlash. Adding the advanced Servo 3000 to an old press filters web properties and breaks a single press revolution into millions of parts. The Servo 3000 meters the web, following individual parts with digital accuracy. When the Servo 3000 reregisters the web for a second pass it can print labels at 0.0025 inch resolution on an expanded range of materials at full press speed. All of this will happen with substantially reduced waste and therefore more substantial profits.

An excellent solution to material waste and an addition that expands the capabilities when printing labels on a flexo press is the Servo 3000 Digital Infeed and Re-register System made by Rotary Technologies.
