Get Rid of Stress Without Medicines

Read these to reduce stress levels without use of any type of medicines.

Oct. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- Quite often when we are stressed or sense anxiety building up, mediation works.  In fact meditating works wonders during those times when your mind is racing to the point of no return.  However, many will confuse the art of meditation and call those who use it as strange or odd. In fact when mastered and done properly meditation actually works!

Mediation has been found to help with reducing stress, anxiety, and strengthening the immune system.  I like to say that it will certainly keep you balanced.  When you are stressed over a big project at work or perhaps it relates to finances or illnesses, instead of stressing over the situations, consider taking some time to relax.  When you take the time to stop, breathe and calm yourself, you are able to make more responsible decisions.

Studies have shown that men and women who meditate for just 40 minutes a day, showed a thickening of the brain's cerebral cortex.  This is the area responsible for decision making, attention and memory.  This is wonderful news, considering the potential for memory loss, dementia and other symptoms of cognitive decline, seems to become apparent when we age.

So, if you've never tried meditation why not try it today.  It's not as difficult as you may think.  There are certainly different forms of meditation.  The one form that has been shown in movies, and magazines is when you sit up straight either on the floor or in a chair, focusing on one object for a long period of time and eliminating any other distractions.  If this is difficult to do, try the breathing technique.  Choose a place that is quiet, with low light. Either sit up straight or lay on your back, close your eyes and slowly take deep breaths. Try to focus solely on your breathing, the rise and fall of your abdomen and how the air feels as each breath goes in and comes out.

As you continue to practice your breathing, you will notice that your concentration will improve and the stress and anxiety will melt away.  Meditation is a wonderful way to reduce stress and sharpen your focus, especially after a particularly hectic day.  It's also a great way to relax, enjoy some quiet time and come back feeling refreshed and ready to conquer the world. Try it, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
