Feb. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Apple cider vinegar is a natural product of crushed fermented apples with powerful anti-bacterial properties. It contains many trace minerals and elements such as magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, calcium, copper, iron, sulphur, chlorine, sodium, silicon and fluorine which are all necessary for a healthy system.

Because of its anti-bacterial properties, apple cider vinegar for acne is a great substitute to treat conditions normally treated with antibiotics which makes it one of the most effective home remedies for acne.

Apple cider vinegar kills the bacteria responsible for causing acne and helps balance our natural PH level, the measure of acidity in our skin. When used topically, it also acts to absorb excess oil which clogs the pores causing inflammation.

To use this treatment topically, dilute 1 part apple cider vinegar with 3 or 4 parts water. Using a clean cotton ball or clean piece of cotton, dab the solution onto the affected area and leave on for about 10 minutes then rinse off. This should be repeated 3 times a day until the acne clears. For more severe cases you may either leave this ratio solution on overnight and rinse off in the morning, or reduce the ratio of water to vinegar by 2 to 3 parts, but this stronger solution should not be left on overnight. It has also been used by some in a less diluted solution and even full strength, but it is best to start out with the most diluted form first, testing your skin sensitivity at each level and working your way up in strength gradually. A tingling sensation may be normal for this treatment, but if a burning sensation occurs, rinse it off immediately and use a more diluted strength or try using it as a tonic drink. As you use this apple cider vinegar for acne treatment, remember to continue on with your proper washing and cleansing routine in between for maximum benefit. It may also be beneficial to moisturize your skin after as this topical method does tend to dry the skin out.

Apple cider vinegar can also be used to drink as a tonic as it contains elements and trace minerals which are vital in detoxifying and purifying your system. People have reported a healthier glow to their skin, reduction of allergies, increased energy and improved digestion, all of which can aid in an overall improvement of your skin condition.

Other apple cider vinegar acne treatment solutions include:

-One part apple cider vinegar, one part witch hazel, and 3 parts water. The water may be replaced with green tea if preferred.

-Add a few aspirins which contain salicylic acid. This helps to dry up acne and exfoliate the skin.

Natural apple cider vinegar is made by crushing organically grown apples and fermenting in wood barrels. The result is a rich brownish fluid which contains a dark cloudy foamy web-like substance called “Mother”, which can be added to other cider vinegars to promote maturity of more apple cider vinegar. These contain the necessary enzymes and minerals for treating acne which are not present in grocery store bought vinegars which have been over processed, over heated and filtered.

As with most other treatments for any condition, it is important to remember, rates of success and length of treatment to obtain maximum benefits vary with each individual. When trying to get rid of acne it’s still important to try out some home remedies first before the more expansive solutions such as an acne laser treatment!
