ProTen Services Attend International Radon Conference

ProTen Services recently attended the Radon Outcomes On Mitigation Solutions (ROOMS) conference held in Limoges, France

Oct. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- The Radon Outcomes On Mitigation Solutions (ROOMS) conference has now taken place for ten consecutive years, first being held in Italy in 2000. The meeting of radiological experts has convened in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and France, with the medieval city of Limoges in the Limousin region being host to the 2010 conference.

ProTen Services were invited to attend the two-day conference, which saw speakers from across Europe share their expertise and present the results from a wide variety of research and remediation projects. Speakers included Martha Gruson from the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health, Aleš Froňka and Karel Jilek from the National Radiation Protection Institute of Czech Republic, Boris Dehandschutter of the Belgian Department of Health and Environment, Hannu Arvela and Olli Holmgren from the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland, Bernd Hoffman from the Federal Office for Radiation Protection of Germany, Marcus Hoffman and Claudio Valsangiacomo from the Swiss University of Applied Science, Joachim Gräser from the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety, Bernard Collignan from CSTB, Christian Grimm of the Environment Ministry of Baden-Wüttemberg, Martin Jiranek from Czech Technical University and Govert de With from the Nuclear Research & Consultancy Group (NRG).

The presentations generated much debate and enabled a valuable exchange of knowledge, best practice and technical data.

Delegates also visited the Parc National Régional de Millevaches, where properties with high radon levels had been remediated.

Mr & Mrs Dumortier’s property, which is built into a hillside, had radon levels in excess of 500 Bq/m3. Thierry Coutand, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Land of the Limousin Region and Bernard Collignan, from CSTB explained how remediation had been carried out to lower the concentration of the gas.

Karel Jilek, Ales Fronka, Katerina Rovenska from the National Radiation Protection Institute of Czech Republic and Martin Jiranek from Czech Technical University also posed with Radon Tee outside a property of traditional construction which had been remediated.
