Dec. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Following a busy morning of meetings in a snowy Edinburgh, Radon Tee stopped off for a bite to eat at The Elephant House.

With dramatic views of Edinburgh Castle, the café is now best known as the ‘birthplace of Harry Potter’ as it was here that author JK Rowling drew inspiration for the characters and stories in the wizardry novels.

In the stories, Harry, Hermione and Ron embark upon a series of adventures and often face perilous danger. Harry’s nemesis Voldemort is so feared by many that he is referred to as ‘He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named’.

Whilst radon is a danger and does present a threat to health, it should not become like Voldemort with people too fearful to mention it, as action can be taken to reduce the risk. The Radon Tee campaign aims to make sure that radon is talked about so the dangers are known, and appropriate action can be taken where necessary

Radon Tee also visited the Scottish Parliament.

It is estimated that over 60,000 homes in Scotland are located in radon ‘affected areas’. Nicola Sturgeon, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, said: "The build-up of radon in houses can put health at serious risk and is estimated to cause between 100 and 200 lung cancer deaths in Scotland every year.”

US non-profit organisation, CanSAR (Cancer Survivors Against Radon) is dedicated to preventing radon-induced lung cancer and saving lives through education and awareness, and is sponsoring the Radon Tee World Trek 2010. The campaign aims to bring social awareness to communities through the power of photos, videos and personal stories.

ProTen Services are taking the Tee on a national tour and will be adding photos to the social media campaign at www.facebook.com/radontee.
