Oct. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- The former Bistro 57 listed by Atlanta Restaurant Broker, We Sell Restaurants located in the Healey Building downtown will be renamed and re-opened as Cafe Hortensia.  The concept is the brainchild of Wanda Knight and the name pays homage to a favorite family member.  The restaurant will focus on breakfast and lunch for the heavy pedestrian traffic in downtown Atlanta close to universities, the bar association and federal courthouse.

As Atlanta's last major construction project prior to World War I, the Healey Building was built by real estate developer William T. Healey. Designed by Walter T. Downing, known for his eclectic style and love of detail, the Healey's ornate cathedral-like rotunda and domed lobby redefined grandeur.

This historic jewel has not only stood the test of time -- it's listed with the National Register of Historic Places and has distinguished Landmark status -- but it's been transformed into home and retail space.  In 2001 Downtown's "Grand Old Lady" underwent one of the most significant conversions in Atlanta's history, opening her elegant, finely-crafted doors as urban condominiums.

Cafe Hortensia will occupy space on the ground floor of the building, which encompasses an entire city block, includes a dozen restaurants, numerous salons, an art gallery, several fine clothing stores, offices, and more. Owner Wanda Knight plans to freshen up the interior, install some additional equipment and start service in a few short weeks.  She had this to say, "Cafe Hortensia is a venture close to my heart.  We will have a menu focused on southern favorites and breakfast items like shrimp and grits, fresh baked biscuits and a large variety of omelets.  Lunch will include sandwiches, salads and more for that person looking for a new place to dine in downtown Atlanta."
