Follow on Google News | AIB announces shortlist for 2010 International Media AwardsThe shortlisted entries for all 16 categories at the 2010 AIBs, international media excellence awards, have been announced by the Association for International Broadcasting. The 98 entries come from Africa, America, Asia, Australia and Europe.
By: Association for International Broadcasting The AIBs celebrate the best of global broadcasting across 16 different categories for radio and television and cross-media productions, plus creative marketing and innovative technology. New in 2010 is the "Best children's factual programme or series" and the People's Choice Award for broadcasters' 'best coverage of climate change'. In the People's Choice category, the winner will be decided by individuals viewing and voting for their favourite entry online. Simon Spanswick, AIB CEO, said “The standard of entries this year is extremely high and the fact that a large number of broadcasters are entering the AIBs for the first time shows the increasing importance of this annual international competition. Interestingly, quite a few low-budget programmes stand out because of their ability to tell a story, provide context and draw audiences into the story. The range of topics that programme makers the world over tackle creatively and skilfully is astounding." The shortlist will be judged by an independent panel of respected professionals from the broadcasting and wider media industries, making these awards unique in broadcasting because of their independence from commercial interests. Full details and how to vote for "Best coverage of climate change" can be found at theaibs.tv The 2010 AIBs are sponsored by ADB (Advanced Digital Broadcast), Bloomberg Television, Eurosport and 1 Goal ("Education for all"). The award ceremony takes place at a gala evening attended by broadcasters from around the world on Tuesday, 9 November 2010 in London.
