Americans Insatiable Demand for Infotainment

Back in the “good old days”, information was just that, information, and the only entertainment to be found was down at the local saloon where Uncle Willie was laid out cold on the floor after slapping the newest waitress. Now fast forward...

Oct. 19, 2010 - PRLog -- News is no longer news…it comes with opinion and debate…a regular circus event.  Television has become an endless sea of “not-so-reality” shows that are clamoring for attention.  And don’t forget the internet, where at last count, Google indexed over 27 BILLION active web pages and online video is poised to overtake the good ole television.  Why, you might ask…because we, including myself, are no longer satisfied with just information and facts, we want to be entertained 24 hours a day.

Technology has truly transformed the way we live our lives.  From the way we get our news and information to the way we communicate with friends and family.  My wife’s latest smart phone comes with an endless supply of app’s for anything you can think of…including a silly little rat that laughs and parrots back everything you say and falls over when you tap him on the screen…all in the name of entertainment.

Because we have all been programmed to receive our information this way, why is it that most business websites still require you to filter through enormous amounts of text to find the information we are looking for.  Well guess what, we don’t do it!  Google says you have about four seconds to capture a website visitor’s attention before they click off your site and are gone forever.  Why, because we are lazy…we don’t want to read.

Well I have good news.  I ran across a new product called i-Vo Technology http://www.ivotechnology.com/

It almost scared me.  As a cycle enthusiast, I landed on what I expected to be another boring cycle website, when what to my wandering eyes did appear, but a guy riding a giant motorcycle right across my screen.  It was amazing, almost in 3-D.  It was right in front of his site.  He stopped the bike, told me a little bit about who they were, and off he drove…right off my screen.  I had to know more, so I entered his site, and yet another guy, named Fast Eddie of all things, walks out in front of the site and gives me all the information I was looking for.  It was amazing; there was absolutely no text on their site, just pictures of cool bikes, a few links, and of course Fast Eddie. Finally, someone gave me information I was looking for the way I like to get my information...I like to call it infotainment…and the world is ready for it.

I did some research into iVo Technology and found that they offer a pretty cool service to businesses. From some pretty generic welcome videos to fully custom, ride your motorcycle across the screen, kind of cool stuff.  I must say that it got my attention and I can only imagine what is has done for Don and his side-kick Eddie.
