Oct. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Memphis, TN, October 15, 2010 -- Showing his Corjor International collection at Memphis Fashion Week Sunday October 18, will be a homecoming for award-winning celebrity designer Ean Williams.

Williams, founder and executive director of DC Fashion Week, is a Memphis native who attended White Station High School, Christian Brothers College and Memphis State University before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force as a security intelligence analyst.

Williams, who is the nephew of the late Rep. Larry Turner, still has family in Memphis, including five sisters and a brother. His label is named after his two eldest sons Corey and Jordan.

“It feels like a class reunion to come home and finally show Memphians what I have been doing since leaving in 1985,” he said.

Williams has caught the eye of the international fashion world since leaving Memphis more than two decades ago. He traveled to Belgrade, Serbia this summer for the debut of his collection with fellow designer Tatjana Tatalovic, Elle Magazines’ Most Innovative Designer, at Belgrade Fashion Week.

Williams is the 2010 recipient of the Fashion Icon award in Washington from the UDesignateMe, a nonprofit organization that strives to eliminate driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

A noted fashion show producer, Williams has run DC Fashion Week for the past thirteen seasons and has staged some of Washington, D.C.’s biggest fashion events, including the Presidential Inaugural Fashion Show, H Street Festival Fashion Show, ARTOMATIC Fashion Show, AKA Fashion Show, Congressional Black Caucus Fashion show (co-produced) and the Riverfront Festival Show.

His work recently landed him on Washington Life’s Magazine’s most creative list. His next venture is to continue to support eco-friendly designers by producing the annual Green Festival Fashion show which will be held at the Washington Convention Center.

He was one of the first to include eco-friendly and ethical fashions in a major fashion week, an event that was sponsored in part by the World Bank.

“As producers of apparel we must protect the environment by re-introducing eco-conscious methods at the source through the use of environmentally friendly materials and socially responsible methods of production.”

Although fashion is his first love Williams is a former model and actor. He recently appeared as a pastor on the second series premiere of Anacostia The Series, an award-winning soap opera based in Washington D.C. neighborhood.

He is currently reviewing scripts from various Indie film producers and will appear as himself in TLC’s popular reality TV series DC Cupcakes.

About Memphis Fashion Week: The four-day event features a collection of fashion shows. Proceeds will benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters. For more information go to www.memphisfashionweek.com.
