Oct. 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Sherman Oaks, CA - Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks will once again ring with the sounds of music and fun as the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce presents the 20th Annual Sherman Oaks Street Fair on Sunday, October 17. With more than one-half mile of the Boulevard between Van Nuys Blvd. and Kester Avenue transformed into a pedestrian mall, over 80,000 visitors will have the opportunity to sample food from around the world, participate in games, and purchase items from a wide variety of vendors.

The 20th Annual Sherman Oaks Street Fair, themed “Showbiz in Sherman Oaks” will feature two stages with live entertainment throughout the day.  The Main Stage features diverse musical performances from Crysys, TimeBomb, With A Bible & A Gun, Zoe Myers and more!  The Community Stage will be equally active with a great rock & roll band – JAX.  Fronted by actor Jimmy Jax Pinchak of the new movie Let Me In, JAX takes you back to an era when great bands needed no introductions, and when the music played and the soul listened.  Schools from all over Los Angeles will also be performing on the Community Stage: Dixie Canyon Elementary, Pacoima Singers, Charter High School Arts & Media (CHAMPS), and The Buckley School Performing Arts Department.

There will be a special award ceremony on the Community Stage at 1:00pm honoring actress and Sherman Oaks business owner Melissa Joan Hart.  The Sherman Oaks Chamber will also be giving awards to several local teachers for “Teacher of the Year.”  Los Angeles Police Department Senior Lead Officer George Aguilar will be honored for his many years of service and support at the Sherman Oaks Street Fair.  The excitement continues with the first ever “Dog Starz Costume Contest” happening at 5:00pm on the Community Stage with “The Weatherman”, Jonathan Novack, star of “The Bachelorette” and “Bachelor Pad.”  Contact the Chamber to enter your star-studded pooch!

Don’t forget to check out the newly enhanced beer garden sponsored by The Blue Dog Tavern, the Entertainment Booth, and the many other attractions including kids rides and bouncies for the little ones.  “Crazy Cajun” Stephen Domingue from “The Great Food Truck Race” on The Food Network will also take to the Boulevard with a Ragin Cajun menu!
