Oct. 13, 2010 - PRLog -- Melbourne songwriters Lydia Gardner and Darren Pace, aka WakingUgly, in conjunction with Future of Vintage (FOV) Records, are set to release their debut EP, Say Something Sweet, this November.
The Say Something Sweet release party will be held at the iconic Eurotrash Bar, 18 Corrs Lane, Melbourne, on Thursday the 18th of November at 9pm. (Doors open 8pm). A $22 ticket (plus booking fees) includes entry, free drink on arrival, and the WakingUgly live show, followed by finger food and further entertainment from support act, Jo Dawson.
Tickets are now on sale at www.OzTix.com.au and OzTix retail outlets.
At the end of the night, all guests will receive a gift bag containing their very own copy of Say Something Sweet, plus a few other goodies to take home.
Among other giveaways, one lucky guest will win a new iPod Touch nano.
Working with local producer Michael Zammit at Airwaves, WakingUgly have managed to capture the spirit of their melodic pop songs to produce a radio-friendly album that maintains its original rocky edge.
Zammit said of WakingUgly, “I think they have a pretty big future in the industry… they definitely have their own style…. I see them being around for a long time.”
Listeners who like acts such as Katy Perry, No Doubt, Pink, Miley Cyrus and Rogue Traders are in for a treat with this upcoming five-track EP.
Already critically acclaimed in the U.S, WakingUgly are set to go from a virtually unknown Australian writing duo to a force to be reckoned with in the global pop music scene.
In his recent review, writer Wildy Haskell of New York proclaimed Say Something Sweet to be “an EP full of some of the tastiest pop music to emerge from down under in a generation”, Wildy’s World, August 27, 2010.
Rhonda Readence, contributor to New York’s Exciting City magazine said, “WakingUgly creates a sound that is unrivaled. Clean production, precise engineering, and simply spectacular instrumentation make this album solid all the way through. Lydia’s vocals are extraordinary and the songwriting is fantastic. WakingUgly is ready to rock and this album proves it.” Review You CD Reviews, September 10, 2010.
With a band of five musicians in total, Pace and Gardner will prove they’re ready to rock with an on-stage live performance of all the songs from the album on the 18th of November, the eve of their digital release.
