Oct. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Oct 07, 2010 - Ranch Sorting is a regular part of a real Florida Crackers daily life. Ranch Sorting involves sorting of the cattle into pens for transport to market, doctoring, or branding. This event places a two-person team of mounted riders in a pen to work together cutting cattle from a herd of 10, in a sequential order and drive them from one pen to another while keeping the non-sequential cattle from getting through.

The event begins with a sorting demonstration for people who are new to working cattle and the Ranch Sorting experience. All levels of rider are encouraged to attend. There are plenty of participants available who will be willing to partner-up for anyone that does not have a partner so everyone can participate.
“I am absolutely hooked on sorting.” Says Nikki Boross, Kissimmee resident, “The sorting event at the Brown Ranch is a great place for beginners and experienced sorters alike. I found that everyone was outgoing and cannot wait to try it out for myself with my horse!”

Plenty of experienced participants are on-hand to assist beginners and offer advice on how to get their horses to work with the cattle. Following the practice runs, there is a Jackpot series for any riders that are interested.

Next Ranch Sorting is on October 23, 2010. Sign-in starts at 6:00 pm. Event starts at 7 pm and goes until finished. $10.00 per sort, $35.00 for 4 sorts.  Buy-in for Jackpot is $20 per run. Western attire encouraged.

Spectators are welcome, though there are no bleachers and it is recommended that you bring lawn chairs.  There is a $10 grounds fee for non-participating horses that are on premises. Negative Coggins Required.
