Directors / BUILDING OPERATION, MAINTENANCE AND RECORDKEEPING
TRAINING COURSE

The Fire Department of the City of New York recently announced that ALL currently licensed FS/EAPDs will be required to receive additional training. As of October 4, 2010, all FS/EAPD renewals must be accompanied by a certificate showing that the applicant has successfully completed the Building Operation, Maintenance and Recordkeeping Course given by a school accredited by the FDNY. The course consists of a minimum of seven (7) hours of classroom instruction (not including breaks and examination time) for an approximate total of a nine (9) hours. It is anticipated that approximately 4,500 applicants will need to be trained within the next 12 calendar months and that approximately 13,000 applicants will require training within the next 36 months. To address this urgent need for training REBNY has partnered with Global Security Group, Inc. to offer this mandatory course. Training will be provided by Global's professional staff of instructors, all of whom have been certified by the FDNY and a variety of local, state and federal agencies. All classes will be given in the GSG training center located in the Sports Plaza Building, 421 Seventh Avenue, Suite 500 (Fifth Floor) New York, NY 10001 (Telephone 212-285-2400). This location is located above Penn Station and is easily accessible by mass transit (the entrance to the building is on the north side of 33rd Street, slightly east of 7th Avenue).

Please note that this certificate of completion may be used for renewal at any time during the next three year renewal cycle. A single renewal certificate is all that is required for FS/EAPDs holding COF's in multiple buildings.
