Follow on Google News | Carrigaline Town Loyalty Card Holder Wins €250 and 1,300 Points From Local Businesses.Kevin O'Brien wins €250 and 1,300 points for using his town-wide loyalty card in more than 2 businesses in September. Devised by local businesses the card and promotion encourage local shopping and help support local jobs.
By: myrewardcard.ie The Shop September promotion is part of an ongoing scheme by independent Carrigaline businesses to promote local shopping in the town. As part of the initiative Carrigaline became the first town in Ireland to introduce a town-wide loyalty card. This was introduced under the localrewards.ie name and allows each business to operate their own points based loyalty scheme which can all be accessed by customers using a single loyalty card. The scheme was introduced by leading businesses in the town who realised that they needed to give people a reason to shop in the town instead of going to nearby Cork City. The Carrigaline localrewards.ie town loyalty program uses the internet loyalty platform developed by Cork company myrewardcard.ie. Launched in August the loyalty program has been a huge success and over 2,200 people are actively using cards in the town. According to Brian O'Connell the Chief Executive of myrewardcard.ie the public response in particular was not unexpected, "Research continually shows that Loyalty Cards are the most popular type of promotion with the public, but most people only take membership of one or two programs because of the hassle of carrying multiple cards and registering so many times. Being able to use 13 programs with one card was always going to be a winner." The selection of the myrewardcard.ie platform to power the Carrigaline loyalty card made the Shop September promotion possible by automatically entering people when they used their card. Kevin was one of hundreds of people automatically entered into the draws for both the weekly and Grand Prize draws simply by using their card. "The card is a great idea," according to Kevin, "I get something back for being a loyal customer and it also helps to keep jobs in the town." In addition to the €250 and 1,300 points which Kevin won there have already been 4 weekly winners who each received 650 points. The success of the program in Carrigaline has generated interest from other towns and there are plans to introduce it elsewhere. "There has been great recognition of the fact that businesses in Carrigaline decided to do something to keep business local, rather than just waiting for others to help them. As a result we will be introducing the concept to another town before the end of the month," said Brian O'Connell. "We'll be announcing this formally within the next 2 weeks and also expect to have a third town launched before Christmas."
