Sept. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Stamford, CT – The World Affairs Forum and Greenwich Library are cosponsoring a showing of the Nuclear Threat Initiative’s short documentary, Nuclear Tipping Point, at the Library on October 14 at 7 P.M., followed by a panel discussion.  Admission is free.

The film is a conversation with four men intimately involved in American diplomacy and national security over the last four decades, Former Secretary of State George Shultz, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, former Secretary of Defense Bill Perry and former Senator Sam Nunn.  The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with Alice Slater, the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation’s New York Representative, and Paul Hughes, Senior Program Officer, Center for Conflict Analysis and Prevention, US Institute of Peace.

"Nuclear weapons today present tremendous dangers, but also an historic opportunity.  U.S. leadership will be required to take the world to the next stage — to a solid consensus for reversing reliance on nuclear weapons globally as a vital contribution to preventing their proliferation into potentially dangerous hands, and ultimately ending them as a threat to the world," from The Wall Street Journal Op-ed by George Shultz, William Perry, Henry Kissinger and Sam Nunn, January 2007.

A generous grant from the Nuclear Threat Initiative has made the film showing and presentation possible.  The World Affairs Forum is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to expanding understanding of global affairs and America’s role in the world.
