The World Famous Rick & Russ Show participate in UNCF Walk for Education on 9/25 at Lake Merritt

Sept. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Music for the People Entertainment and The World Famous Rick & Russ Show will provide entertainment for the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) San Francisco/Northern California Chapter’s 26th Annual Walk for Education & Health Fair. The walk will take place on Saturday, September 25th 2010 at Oakland's Lake Merritt Park beginning at 8:30am.  At this event, hundreds of attendees will participate in the 5K Walk/Run followed by an afternoon of food, entertainment and a special health and education fair.

The World Famous Rick & Russ Show is one of the most well known and respected mobile disc jockey companies in Northern California. Russell "DJ Big Russ" Gatewood, Chris "DJ CJ Flash" Jourdan and Rick “DJ Rick" Patrick, the men behind the company, who combined have over 60 years experience in the entertainment industry.  The company has become an entertainment staple at home in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. They have opened for artists such as Stevie Wonder, Charlie Wilson, Earth Wind & Fire, Jay-Z, Level 42, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Mint Condition, Chaka Khan and many more.

The San Francisco/Northern California Chapter of UNCF has held the Walk for Education since 1984. This annual event draws over 1000 walkers from corporate sponsors, community organizations and individuals.  The UNCF is the nation’s oldest and most successful minority higher education assistance organization that supports Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s). It was incorporated in 1944 by Dr. Frederick D. Patterson, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune and others with 27 member colleges in order to collectively raise funds for the institutions. The UNCF currently has 39 member colleges, most of which are small liberal arts institution, and supports them through various programs and student scholarships, fellowship and internships opportunities.
