Sept. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Pole Dancing has traditionally been associated with sensual women, but why should men be excluded from this fantastic form of exercise?  "Strip" away the sexy moves ...pun intended... and you will find one of the most challenging forms of fitness.

At pole dancing studios around the country, men taking pole dancing classes have become a regular site.

"The pole takes a ton of core strength and upper body strength. It also takes leg strength because you are gripping the poles with you legs and your arms," said Roya Siroospour, Fitness Director at Crunch, a workout facility that always tries to combine exercise with entertainment. (cbs4.com)

Men tend to catch on after a few classes, but not without a change in their perception of this fitness form.

"Men will come it to Work It to take yoga and cardio classes, but I find them staring curiously at the poles.  When I offer to show them a few moves, they laugh, until I actually get them to try a few basic moves.  Once they find out how challenging the moves are, it's hard to get them to stop" says Michelle Abbruzzese, owner of Work It Dance and Fitness, the only co-ed pole dancing studio in Connecticut.

Even leading Hollywood men have caught onto the pole fitness craze.  Hollywood actor Jude Law admitted taking up pole dancing to get in shape for his role in Closer.

Male pole dancing was even featured on this morning's episode of The Doctors.

"It's just like the playground when we were kids, the jungle gym" states Dr. Jim Sears.

"What great exercise. It is very gymnastic like" states Dr. Drew Ordon.
