Enliven - Android Augmented Reality Colorblind Simulator and Aid is now free on Android Market.

Sept. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Enliven is now a free Android application that uses the hardware camera on Android Phones to show the user what everything looks like through the eyes of a color blind or color deficient person.

The benefit to designers using this application is large when having to take into account a colorblind audience. Enliven can show a designer exactly what needs to be changed in a design to ensure that a colorblind audience will not be excluded. Once a problem with a non colorblind friendly design is identified the designer can use the application to ensure the new design is colorblind friendly.

Enliven also is able to show a colorblind user textures over the colors they normal would have trouble with to help them differentiate those colors. This augmented reality aid will help colorblind users with day to day tasks that may become frustrating with possible mistakes. For example when playing a board game with a Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue pieces. Someone who is Red/Green colorblind is likely to confuse the difference between the Red and Green pieces. Enliven that help that by placing Blue dots over the pieces that are Red so they will know for sure that the Green pieces are not the Red ones. Other scenarios like this one are common like differences between Red and Green Apples in a market with no sign.

Enliven will be a benefit to anyone who is interacting with colorblindness weather they are colorblind themselves or if they are looking to consider the colorblind person in their mission critical designs.
