Aug. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- During September, all Colorado Jamba Juice locations are serving the sweet taste of success with Tropical Study Buddy, a smoothie flavor concocted by the winning team of high school students who participated in Junior Achievement’s 2010 Business Week.  The team of winning students will share 10 percent of the profits realized from sales of their smoothie.  Nearly 200 high school students from Colorado and Wyoming participated in the innovative week-long business immersion summer camp exploring business, entrepreneurship and leadership concepts alongside some of Denver’s most dynamic and accomplished business leaders.  This unique business camp, underwritten by OppenheimerFunds, is the first and only one in the country where participants learn about business by working with real companies and real products, and are rewarded for results.

The winning team’s Tropical Study Buddy smoothie is made with strawberries, mangoes, peach juice, and lime and pineapple sherbet.  The winning team’s back-to-school marketing campaign for the month of September includes “Get Motivated Mondays" encouraging students and parents alike to use a Jamba Juice Tropical Study Buddy to get their week off to the right start.  Posters displayed in all 17 Colorado Jamba Juice locations will further support the promotion and reflect the student’s marketing plan.

The first-year team members, supervised by advisor Melissa Gattis, were: Myranda Bergman, Mountain Range HS; Rachel Carnes, Rangeview HS; Kody Esparza, Pinnacle Charter School; Irie Johnson, East HS; Shu Lee, Niwot HS; Diana Morales, Aurora Central HS; Liam O'Neill, Denver School of Science and Technology; Karina Rodriguez, Centaurus HS; Bobbi Rucker, Manual HS; and Roland Torres, Smoky Hill HS.  In addition to this “Apprentice-style” competition, students explored the importance of ethics in business, learned business etiquette and received hands-on training with more than 150 business volunteers.
