Aug. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- In 2004, clinical psychologist Nancy Novack was diagnosed with Stage IV ovarian cancer that had metastasized to her liver.  She launched Nancy’s List in February, 2008, after extensive conversations with leaders in the San Francisco Bay Area cancer community.  The organization is Nancy’s response to her own particular needs as a cancer patient/survivor and those needs she believes are shared by men, women, children, and teens facing this traumatic experience.  She was deeply troubled that cancer patients in her community were going through such struggles without information and support. Nancy vowed that no cancer patient need ever go through cancer alone.  She discusses this local model for successfully supporting cancer patients everywhere (now endorsed by the UCSF Cancer Resource Center, Kaiser Permanente in Marin County, Stanford University Cancer Center, and Marin General Cancer Resource Center for its comprehensive local and national resource listings) when she appears on Full Power Living (www.emotionalpro.com and iTunes) on August 26, 2010 at 9 a.m. PT.

Nancy Novack, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist and the founder and executive director of Nancy's List, a non-profit organization with the mission that 'no one will ever go through cancer alone'. In these capacities, she has counseled a significant number of cancer patients and their loved ones, blending the psychological teachings from many years and her gifted mentors with the real and mysterious lessons of living with cancer. She is a cancer survivor. In April 2004, Nancy was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer (there is no stage 5). Her chances for survival were exceedingly slim. Despite an extraordinarily bleak prognosis, her brilliant oncologist at Stanford said the most important words to her, "I am with you." Those heartfelt words have sustained Nancy, gave her hope, and transformed her understanding of the healing process of cancer.  Following 21 extremely aggressive and oftentimes grueling chemotherapy treatments, surgery, infections and the blues, Nancy’s belief that she would make it pulled her through.  Her experience led her to develop Nancy’s List, so others with cancer would also hear “I am with you” in support of their encounter with cancer.
