Second Chances, Willing Hearts & a Life Full of Hope for Those in Need
By: Dr. Diane Dike

Aug. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- Eagle, CO - August 11, 2010 – Broken and depressed, twenty years ago Dr. Diane Dike didn’t see a purpose for her life or hope for the future. She thought the world would be better if she killed herself after learning she had an incurable blood disease. Today, Diane lives a life full of joy and purpose that inspires us all to look beyond our present trials and seek out a better perspective. You will be moved to see how her so-called disability is not a tragedy but a GIFT to reveal the glory of God. Diane's an award winning Author, Speaker, Singer, Rare Blood Disease Survivor/Warrior. She overcame her obstacles and found a second chance with love marrying Paul Dike, in 1998. They created a nonprofit organization called Second Chance with Saving Grace that helps hurting people and animals. After rescuing an abandoned, broken Italian Greyhound, Diane trained her to be her service dog and now seven years later they go where no woman and dog have gone before. Transforming lives with help and hope. Invite your family, friends or anyone who needs to experience a fresh perspective to this Sunday’s Flea Market in Eagle at the Fair Grounds (follow the signs & balloons). Come and be inspired by Gracie & Diane, who will be surrounded by live music, car washers, snacks, books, vendors, balloon makers (www.slipperyslopeproductions.com) arts & crafts, and so much more as she captures the hearts of children and adults alike.

“People say to me, ‘How can you smile so much? Why are you so happy?’” Diane chuckles. “Yet, soon they realize there’s something more to life if a woman facing death daily is living a fuller life than most.” The Dikes and SCwSG are preparing for another tour across the USA this November through April. Speaking to a range of different groups such as students, teachers, youth, businessmen and women, entrepreneurs, and church congregations of all sizes and on various televised programs. To schedule them go to www.DianeDike.org or email: Diane@DianeDike.org

In May, Diane learned her friend Kendra Creeks's extremities were being amputated when they turned black. Her mind-boggling ordeal started with a headache, visit to the emergency room and being hospitalized for bacterial meningitis. Kendra's story is especially moving to Diane. She was only 23 when her legs turned black and were almost amputated. Her compelling medical story aired on Mystery Diagnosis TV, "The Woman Whose Legs Turned Black". Upon hearing about Kendra’s need for help, Diane set up the Kendra Creek Medical Fund at the First Bank in Eagle, Colorado to raise funds to buy Kendra new arms and legs.

“Dr. Diane Dike is an amazing speaker, compassionate person and a true testimony for embracing life’s challenges. Her disappointments do not deter her from living a hopeful, impactful and meaningful life,” said Jim Lee, Second Chance Board member. “She’s accomplished more than most people accomplish in a life-time.” “If God can use a woman as broken as I am, then He will certainly use any willing heart. After all, He’s not looking for our ability but our availability!”

FREE entrance. You can help by coming to the Helping Hands Extravaganza at the Eagle County Fairgrounds from 11 am - 4 pm. August 15 and 29.  Diane will speak at noon, introduce Kendra’s Grandma who will give an update and then Tina Weber will perform songs from her latest CD. Help this worthy charity and get your car washed for a donation of 10.00 or more, enjoy desserts & drinks and a fantastic silent auction.
