Bull games and street parties in Béziers

Aug. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Béziers' 42nd Feria which runs this year from Wednesday 11 August until Sunday 15 August is now one of the biggest and most popular annual events in the South of France. A million visitors, a riotous party in the bars and cafés and memorable events in the surrounding villages are on offer to make holidays in the south of France go with a swing. Not to mention the unmissable spectacle in the Arènes (bull ring), for those who love bull games.

Apart from the wine tasting, floats and musical parades through the cobbled streets of this fascinating centuries-old town, there is a host of cultural events on offer. Visitors are spoilt for choice, from orchestral concerts to flamenco dancing, theatre and ballet.  For sports fans, there's a top rugby fixture (ASBH versus Carcassonne) in the Stade de la Méditaerranée on 11 August, a tennis tournament, equestrian events and even a fishing competition. Plus comedy shows, entertainments for the kids and a DJ for the teens!

Activities around the Feria include the Feria wines, which means the event will especially appeal to those who are looking for wine tasting weekends in France. When the 2010 poster was unveiled, the vintages of the Béziers region were also presented: red wine from the Cers/Portiragnes cellars and rosé from the “Domaine de la Colombette” will liven up the festive tables in the bars and cafés of the 2010 Feria …

The vintage Feria rosé will have a really special feature, both innovative and safe, in fact something positively green: in all Béziers’ bars and cafés, the bottles will be made of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) rather than glass, as a health and safety precaution and to avoid any accidents, inopportune breakages, etc. It’s also recyclable! Vincent Pugibet, from the “Domaine de la Colombette”, was the one who had this idea and saw the project through, in collaboration with all the departments involved. However, on the shelves in the shops, the 2010 Feria rosé will be sold in traditional glass bottles.
