Aug. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Scientists at Litron Laboratories, a Life Sciences company located in Rochester, N.Y, have begun to explore how their technology could potentially aid in environmental disasters such as the recent BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Litron’s technology is used by investigators worldwide to study the ability of drugs or other agents to cause chromosome damage. Preliminary investigations will determine if the same scientific principles can be applied to the type of environmental monitoring situations that would be a part of responding to incidents such as the oil spill.

According to Dr. Jeff Bemis, Director of Clinical Trials at Litron, "Conducting these 'proof-of-principle' experiments is an opportunity to push our technology in a new direction and that's always exciting."
