Rich Receives Prestigious AICI Civility Star Award

July 29, 2010 - PRLog -- Deerfield, IL (July 6, 2010), Gwen Rich, owner of IMAGE Inside & Out, was awarded a 2010 Civility Star Award from the Association of Image Consultants International.  The award was presented at the AICI’s recent annual conference in recognition of Ms. Rich’s tireless efforts to improve the self-esteem of teens in her community.  

IMAGE Inside & Out, a full-service image/style consulting company located in Deerfield, IL, has a philanthropic component, which provides two complimentary programs for the teen-aged girls who live in Chicago’s North Shore communities. Both programs, the "Win a Prom Makeover" contest, and the “Dove Real Beauty" workshops, help to increase awareness of the widening definition of "Ideal Beauty", as well as to build self-esteem and confidence among teen girls. At this year’s 2010 Global Annual Conference, Ms. Rich was awarded a 2010 Civility Star Award for her outstanding service in support of the AICI Civility Counts Project and for her diligence in helping to make the world a better place by embracing the principles of Respect, Responsibility and Restraint.

This award coincides with AICI’s pledge to draw public awareness and dedication to the principles of Civility as part of its Civility Counts Project, launched in 2009 when AICI guaranteed to “spread the word” about Civility, both internally with chapter members around the world, and to the public regions they serve.  This widespread program was inspired by Dr. P.M. Forni, the author of Choosing Civility:  The Twenty-Five Rules of Considerate Conduct and The Civility Solution:  What to Do When People Are Rude. He is also the co-founder of the Johns Hopkins Civility Project and has served as an advisor and mentor for AICI‘s program.  Civility is defined as a code of behavior based on the 3 Rs:  Respect, Restraint and Responsibility.
