Antera Software's Link MDRec Will Bring Doctors and Patients Closer Together

One specific example of how Link MDRec can work in real medical situations involves the information transfer between medical imaging centers and radiologists.  Many imaging centers around the world employ radiologists who work offsite.  The imaging center is responsible for transferring the images and digital scans, as well as the patient history and accompanying paperwork to the offsite radiologist for proper examination and diagnosis.  Before Link MDRec, images were sent to the doctor using one of many expensive medical technologies, and the paperwork was faxed to the doctor’s office.  This process resulted in much wasted time matching the paperwork with the proper films at the radiologist’s office.  Link MDRec allows the paperwork and images to remain together when being transferred to the radiologist electronically, eliminating faxing and the loads of paper associated with it.  The radiologist can now receive all of the information together, produce and attach a report to the patient file, and electronically send the entire patient file back to the imaging center and/or the referring doctor. Also, the primary care physician is now able to give the patient account access to log in and view his or her medical files and the updated specialist’s prognosis.

The use of Electronic Medical Records allows medical professionals to manage space more efficiently and reduce costs by not having to maintain office space for physical records filing.  It also eliminates filing errors or chart errors ensuring all patient history and information is readily available and accessible to any medical practitioner authorized to access it.   Reduction in time spent looking for records and reduction in necessary square footage means real return on investment for any medical or dental practice.
