By: Marie Guarino Glen G.Guarino of Guarino Furniture Designs joins many well-respected artists from Crafthaus.com and also The Furniture Society in this juried publication. "The 500 works selected for this collection of cabinets are more than utilitarian pieces of furniture. These cabinets can stand alone as complete sculptural statements. They celebrate shape, joinery, detailing, color, or the subtle combination of all these in the interiors that are revealed as a door is opened." The juror was John Grew Sheridan, a well-known furniture artist wrote in the introduction," Guarino designed Showtime for a client in rescued Zebrawood. The doors open and recess into pockets. As with many of his pieces, he chose to do a clear hand rubbed finish to allow the beauty of the wood to take center stage. Glen very often works with residential and corporate clients designing a piece for their needs. He also designs pieces for gallery and museum exhibits. Guarino draws from Asian, African, and Egyptian aesthetics as well as other influences. Some of his pieces have an Art Deco influence, other designs are very contemporary. He also designs pieces that have an Arts and Crafts feel. Guarino said," I hope my furniture speaks clearly, in a language that conveys a sense of the person behind the art; of someone who loves the creative process and respects the beauty of the material from which it is made. As each viewer moves a hand along the lines of the work, I want them to sense the skill and love for the craft needed to create it." # # # Glen G.Guarino enjoys designing & making furniture for corporate, private & public clients. He also exhibits in galleries and museums. Guarino specialize in museum quality, one-of-a kind furniture with a natural finish. He very often uses rescued lumber. End
