June 28, 2010 - PRLog -- Amaris Acosta and the Miss Brooklyn Scholarship Organization (www.missbrooklyn.org) are sitting pretty after this weekend’s Miss New York pageant, the state preliminary for Miss America. Taking place at the State University of New York at Albany’s Performing Arts Center, Mallory Hagan, the current Miss Brooklyn, and Joelle Bracco, Brooklyn’s Outstanding Teen, both placed 1st Runner Up in their respective divisions, continuing a tradition of Top Five finishes for the borough. The winner of the Miss New York title was Claire Buffie, Miss Southeast New York while Alison Stroming, Miss Jubilee’s Outstanding Teen took the teen title.

“I am proud of Miss Brooklyn's legacy,” says Amaris Acosta, the pageant’s executive director. “In the three years we have been back in the borough we have produced one Miss New York and top five finishes at the state level each year, cementing Brooklyn's status as a powerhouse. I look forward to the continued growth and success of the organization, and could not be more excited to find more talent to showcase for the next year. “

Mallory and Joelle will continue their reigns as the Brooklyn titleholders appearing at various events throughout Brooklyn and New York City including an appearance at the July 25th Brooklyn Cyclones baseball game at MCU Park in Coney Island.

As for Amaris, she is already setting her sites on 2011 with preparation for the Miss Brooklyn pageant, The Outstanding Teen Pageant (for teens 13 to 17) and the reemergence of the Brooklyn Princess Pageant (open to girls ages 6 to 12) and a renewed push for the state title. “It’s Albany or Fuggetaboutit!”  says Acosta.
