Firm issues comments for the Small Business Federal Contracting Forum
Creative Investment Research, Inc. today issued comments for the Small Business Federal Contracting Forum public meeting to be held on Monday, June 28, 2010. The purpose of the meeting is to encourage public comment on small business issues.
By: Creative Investment Research, Inc.
The Small Business Administration (SBA), the Department of Commerce (DOC), and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), co-chairs of the Task Force, invited interested parties from both the public and private sectors to offer their views on the challenges small businesses face in pursuing federal contracts, on best practices for overcoming these challenges and increasing small business participation in the Federal marketplace.
Comments were especially encouraged on: (1) Removing barriers to small business participation;
Creative Investment has long been familiar with the problems that small and minority businesses encounter when attempting to contract with the federal government. We reviewed our experiences in our comments. In addition, we noted which Federal agencies are doing the best job in their small business outreach strategies.
Finally, we noted that doing business with the Federal government would be easier and more attractive if the Government could facilitate direct access to equity capital for qualified small businesses, including businesses owned by women, minorities, socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and service-disabled veterans of our Armed Forces. Our recommendation for government and private action to facilitate small business equity capital formation is detailed in our comments.
We support efforts to “identify new, innovative strategies for putting more contracts in the hands of America's small business owners.”
