| Work Readiness Event Prepares Young Adults for WorkforceWORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA will host the Summer Job Connection Summit, a work readiness event for young adults who will participate in a summer program designed to provide summer work experience in local jobs while stimulating our local economy.
WHAT: WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA will host the Summer Job Connection Summit, a work readiness event for young adults who will participate in a summer program designed to provide valuable summer work experience in local jobs while stimulating our local economy. Note: Summer Job Connection participants and work sites have already been selected to participate. This event is not open to the public. WHY: The Summer Job Connection is a WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA employment program that will provide valuable summer work experience in local jobs for 750 young adults ages 16-21, which in turn, will make an immediate financial impact on the local economy. Participants will earn $8.25 an hour and work 35 hours for six to 11 weeks at local nonprofits, government agencies and private sector companies in emerging industries. All program participants will attend the Summer Job Connection Summit on their first day of work to learn work readiness skills such as setting goals, creating a resume, networking, developing strong customer service skills and presenting a professional attitude in the workplace. Participants will also attend a job fair with employer worksites where they will be interviewed and placed for their summer positions. The event will be repeated five times, once in Lake, Seminole and Osceola counties and twice in Orange County.
